BMW has recently announced that they are going to sign a six years partnership with United States Olympic Committee (USOC) from now through 2016. It has also been announced that BMW will now be the official mobility partner of four other National Governing bodies and these are: USA Bobsled & Skeleton, US Speedskating, USA Swimming and USA Track & Field, the areas where BMW is going to support these parties includes: track and field, swimming, speedskating, and bobsled and skeleton.
Reports are also saying that BMW is going to be the first foreign carmaker to sponsor USOC; according to the USOC chief marketing Officer Lisa Baird “All of our research shows that our fans really respect Olympic sponsors, because they know that’s the way we bring the team to the games”.
While discussing about this new partnership Jack Pitney, Vice President of Marketing for BMW of North America said that “As a company dedicated to joy, performance and efficiency, BMW Group is a fitting partner for the USOC, whose mission of achieving sustained competitive excellence and inspiring Americans dovetails perfectly with our own values”.
Short track speedskater Apolo Anton Ohno also gave a response on this deal and said that “What’s truly unique about BMW is their willingness to go beyond financial assistance and make available their engineers and technology experts to work with Team USA athletes and try to enhance their training programs”. Thus we can see that both the organizations are quite happy with this partnership and now we have to see what will be the impact of this on future gaming.
