General motors’ has announced this Monday that they will spend $336 million on the up gradation of the Hamtramck plants and the main focused production line will be the Chevrolet Volt hybrid car. This plant will start building this car in the next spring and it has been expected that 8,000 volts will be build during the car’s first year of launch and GM is expecting to see the sale increasing up to 60,000 in the future years.

To help cut cost in the up gradation of the plant GM has started bringing equipments from the other plants and many types of equipment have been brought from the other plants for the production of volt. While discussing about the plant’s history it was opened in 1985 for the production Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne sedans and by the time other models also became preferences for production here.

This plant has given many top class cars in the past and currently its main focus is the production of volts by the next year and this car series is also expected to be the best ever launched by GM. As GM is strongly focusing on this car’s production here and the hard work of its engineers will definitely bring a legendary car to the international auto market.
