The technology is getting advance at a very fast pace and like any other industry of the world, the auto industry is also getting some really exciting changes in the technologies used in vehicles. GM has recently announced that drivers of most of the 2011 vehicles will be able to use Smartphone for handling some main functions of their cars.

Some of the functions that can now be controlled with the Smartphone include: remote starting, activating the horn and lights and remote locking and unlocking of the doors. The brands that are working to bring these mobile applications for the users includes: Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC.

Another exciting thing that GM showed up today is that the OnStar subscribers will be able to get the diagnostic information on their phones and that information may include: fuel tank level, remaining oil life, recommended tire pressure and average mile per gallon driven.

This announcement has also been made that some agreements have been done with Google and according to them; the drivers will be able to set the destination using Google Maps and then send them to OnStar’s turn-by-turn navigation system.

If this technology really comes under the controls of drivers then it would be a fantastic success for GM and the technological advancement will surely touch the new heights of success.
